David Berg, the late founder of the Children of God cult, aka The Family, aka The Family International, believed that the Bible provides scriptural justification for having sexual relations with one’s own daughters and granddaughters. He said he regretted not having sex with his own mother.

The present leader of this Christian missionary movement, Karen Zerby, is an enthusiastic follower of Berg’s teachings, going as far as having sex with her own son Davidito when he was 12 years old.

After leaving the group, Davidito sought to locate his mother with the purpose of killing her. Unable to find her, he settled for plan B - killing Zerby’s secretary, one of the women who had sexually abused him as a child.

Judge Ward of the High Court in London, England, found that there had been widespread adult-child sex in the group.

The cult’s Jesus encourages teenagers to have oral sex and masturbate each other. Even worse, fourteen-year-old boys are instructed to imagine they are female and to visualize that Jesus is penetrating their vaginas. They are encouraged to masturbate and ejaculate to Him.

Close to quarter of a million outsiders have been serviced sexually by the group’s prostitutes. They have even operated their own escort services.

Berg’s daughter Deborah Davis in 1984 authored a book entitled “The Children of God – The Inside Story.” It was the first major exposure of her father’s pedophilia.

No doubt, the greatest milestone, as far as bringing the truth out to the public concerning this secretive group, was not a book but a nearly 300-page long court document, the Judgment of Lord Justice Ward in 1995.

Another important step was James Chancellor’s book “Life in The Family – An Oral History of the Children of God,” published in the year 2000. These and other writings, though not without their problems and shortcomings, have been attempts to move the research in the right direction.

My book “The Children of God Cult, aka The Family” is a further step in the uphill battle of getting to the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, concerning the past and present beliefs and practices of this notorious cult.

It has taken me seven long years to write it. There were times when I felt I would never finish if I was to include in it the minimum amount of information that I considered essential in telling the COG story. It has been the hardest project I have ever undertaken. It is nearly 300 pages long.

“The Children of God Cult, aka The Family” is not THE book on the COG/Family. That book has not yet been written and maybe never will. I will humbly assert that at this point in time (2005), my book is the closest thing to it.

You will not find any place, any website, any book where this information is packaged in such a simple and easy to absorb, and yet extremely detailed and thoroughly documented format.

I wanted to write a book in such a way that the group would not be able to work itself around it. I wanted to explain and expose the lies and deception the group puts out in a way that even a child could understand.

If you are someone who has heard both sides of the story and you are still highly confused, I assure you that after you study the whole book carefully you will have the confidence of someone who really knows! I guarantee it!
